This is the before pic of a client’s living room, which already had some beautiful features; clean lines, crisp white walls, wide plank white oak flooring and a serene modern aesthetic. A brilliant starting point.
– Pull the room together
– Storage for all of her kids toys and books.
– A quick refresh
New built-in full height bookshelves on either side of a simple black fireplace insert from Marsh’s fireplace. Just addressing this one wall gave the space a focal point and a sense of coziness. We included deeper Carrera topped drawers at the bottom of the shelves with light gold sliver pulls and capped the mantle in the same marble for continuity. Simply painting everything white kept the clean aesthetic intact.
We still need to style up those shelves and look for a standing lamp and art: I am also dying to put some beautiful fabric romans on those windows. But introducing the new pale blue linen couch from Mjolk (and on sale!) instantly helped freshen things up. The low arms are more in line with the room’s modern aesthetic and keep the space feeling open.
We added a few wooden blocks from Klaus to use as side tables or extra seating. But we skipped a coffee table for now so that the kids could play on the new super soft Flokati rug. I love how light and airy it feels compared to the previous red rug. (btw we did relocate the rug and the TV upstairs).
My favourite addition though is the Lauren chair from Hollace Cluny, probably the most comfortable chair ever. We had it custom upholstered in a rich, green velvet from Kravet for a hint of luxury and drama. It fills the bay window perfectly.
Still a bit more to come!
