Our first stay at Casa Louise
December 20, 2022

Well, we were finally able to stay in our little Casa in San Miguel last February. We still had a ton of work to do – like hook up the stove, the fridge, and the hot water! Plus we didn’t have any light fixtures! But we managed to get through all of it, enjoy the space and get started on the decorating. We still have a ways to go but it already feels lovely.

This is the front hall that leads to a small courtyard. We still haven’t hung the row of metal lanterns that will along the ceiling here but they will definitely go up on the next trip!

Our roof top plants filled in so beautifully while we were away during the pandemic. I love how the trailing agave fills in the space on that large white staircase wall.

We found this runner for our upper hall during our stay and love how it adds pattern and colour. Our next move is to add the drapes on all of the french doors.

Our principle bedroom has wound up veering into shades of lavender and lilac. Don’t ask me how! Actually it was because i fell in love with that coverlet at Y & Co. and brought it down with us. It’s feeling very fresh, but i might switch things into a moodier direction next trip.

But we will still have a spare, somewhat monastic hand.

The guest bathroom has turned out pretty dreamy now that is all cleaned up. We are still on the hunt for small, exotic area rug for in here, as well as towels and artwork to cosy things up.

We managed to get this light up in here, which was really good! The mirror was an old one that my sis had and I toted it down in a large, flat screen TV shipping portfolio – along with some other pieces. I was holding my breath the entire trip and totally relieved that it arrived intact.

This washroom is still a work in progress. We need some colour and pattern and a large piece to fill the niche. We already have the rug for this room (it is a stunner from Plain Goods) and it’s already packed!

Even though we were working like crazy to get moved in on this trip, we managed to find some time to visit our sweet rescue dog, Querido, with his new family. So much fun!
