Updating the front door had a huge impact on the house’s curb appeal, especially since the original door had bizarre proportions. The lower panels were too tall ( I prefer lower panels nice and low) and the upper lass panels were far too narrow. And that dusty green colour was beyond blah. So…I bought a set of standard glass french doors with a paneled bottom but customized them with moulding. I painted them Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball in a satin finish and then decked them out with vintage brass hardware. I kept the mailbox but had it cleaned up at The Door Store.

BEFORE
Inside the front hall was a bit lifeless. And you get an idea of how bad the proportions on the front door used to be.

AFTER
During construction the entry door was damaged a bit so we decided to strip the paint and turn it into a rustic element in the room. On occasion I have imagine myself painting it back to white but for now I am sticking with it. We used a remnant of blue grasscloth that was in our bedroom at our old house to introduce some welcoming colour to the foyer.
